National Strategy
In 2008 the Government published the new ten year Drugs Strategy ‘Tackling Drugs, Changing Lives’, which is built upon its predecessor, ‘Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain’. ‘Tackling Drugs, Changing Lives’ aims to reduce the supply and demand of drugs whilst focusing on families and communities. The four main strands are:

> protecting communities through drug supply, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour
> preventing harm to children, young people and families affected by drug misuse
> delivering new approaches to drug treatment and social re-integration
> public information campaigns, communications and community engagement
